Our Mission and Vision

EAPD is the first development institution in Egypt promoting South-South Cooperation.

Its overall mission is based on the following objectives:

  • Supporting African cadres through training courses in partnership with Egyptian centers of excellence.
  • Responding to the emergency needs of African countries through the provision of aid and humanitarian assistance.
  • Contributing to the transfer of knowledge and the sharing of experiences with African countries by dispatching experts and technicians.
  • Advancing trade between Egypt and African countries to improve the economic condition and livelihood of people across Africa.
  • Enhancing South-South cooperation as a key instrument for integration among developing countries.
  • Supporting African states in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and implementing the 2063 African Agenda.

Our long-term priorities include:

  • Continuing to adopt a demand-driven approach and respond to the priority needs of countries.
  • Working with a global perspective and building partnerships at all levels.
  • Focusing on the enabling sectors: women empowerment, education, health and food security.
  • Following the “learning by doing and from feedback” approach in our work.

Our success factors:

  • Our conviction that forging South-South Cooperation partnerships is the best way to achieve sustainable development and that home grown solutions can resolve the challenges the continent faces.
  • Our genuine desire and willingness to help transfer the knowledge and know-how Egypt possesses in the areas where it enjoys comparative advantage to the countries of the South.
  • Our strong collaboration with development partners, especially international institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank, the African Development Bank, the JICA and the FAO.
  • The dedication, hard work and talent of the EAPD team, and the invaluable support of the Egyptian missions abroad.
  • The broad and solid networks EAPD is developing.
